Project Bible 365 Day (03)
Tonight’s message is an interesting topic. It’s an interesting topic because it deals with the subject of man and the flesh. I look at the issue as though God and Satan are playing chess for souls and in this game every move is crucial.
Why would I say that? I have all the confidence in saying that because I know the flesh is always warring against the spirit. Where is the evidence? The evidence of the scripture is located in the letter to Galatians. Today I’m going to talk to you all about what it’s like to be a man.
My dear friends do you not that as a man and as human being we wrestle the flesh daily. It is the purpose of the enemy who is the devil, Satan and that old serpent to cause us to stumble in our ways. How does he manifest such things? He gets into people’s homes by way of the TV, Internet and even in the Printed Pages of lustful magazines. The reason I want to discuss a topic of the flesh vs Spirit is to let you know that I battle with it. Everyone does, however the important thing to remember is to USE THE POWER of the Word. Yield not to the flesh but walk in the ways of the Spirit which leads to righteousness.
I bring this topic to your attention because I urge my fellow believers to heed the warnings of this former high school nerd. Why is being a high school nerd and an outcast so important when talking about this issue?
It’s important because as a former high school nerd who was outcast because of a disability it’s important to understand just how kids that are put in that position are thinking and reacting to certain situations. From personal experience I dealt with wanting to feel acceptance and most certainly I craved attention.
I would ask for your forgiveness, and the reason I would ask you of such a thing is because as I was thinking about what topic I should discuss, I reflected on my former life. My former self. It dealt with a lot of fleshy desires. Here’s the skinny, the 411 or the inside track on how this topic came about.
The hour was late. I had just moved into my new home just days ago and I couldn’t find rest. I couldn’t find rest because I had very bizarre thoughts come to mind. I knew these thoughts were not of God and so I repeated His Word like:
Now I studied the scriptures earlier today to get further confirmation regarding this matter so I studied the story of David’s adultery.
2 Samuel 11King James Version (KJV)
11 And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.
2 And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.
3 And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?
4 And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.
5 And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.
6 And David sent to Joab, saying, Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David.
7 And when Uriah was come unto him, David demanded of him how Joab did, and how the people did, and how the war prospered.
8 And David said to Uriah, Go down to thy house, and wash thy feet. And Uriah departed out of the king’s house, and there followed him a mess of meat from the king.
9 But Uriah slept at the door of the king’s house with all the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.
10 And when they had told David, saying, Uriah went not down unto his house, David said unto Uriah, Camest thou not from thy journey? why then didst thou not go down unto thine house?
11 And Uriah said unto David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? as thou livest, and as thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.
12 And David said to Uriah, Tarry here to day also, and to morrow I will let thee depart. So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day, and the morrow.
13 And when David had called him, he did eat and drink before him; and he made him drunk: and at even he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but went not down to his house.
14 And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah.
15 And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set ye Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he may be smitten, and die.
After speaking the Word those desires from the past left me. I am a blood washed Child of The King and I ask the Lord that I hide the Word in my heart so that I may not sin aganist Him. The reason why is because I am on the highway to holiness. Now why is God and Satan battling for souls and why is yielding the flesh not in accordance with the word of God? It is not in the divine will of God simply because Satan tells men and women everywhere to serve themselves. Now on the surface that may seem like a good idea but wait a second, to the common man it sounds easy and enjoyable.
The bible does say that there is pleasure in sin for a season. However as the arch deciever the old snakes forgets to mention that if we yield to the flesh, we die. The cry of God is still the soul that sinneth it shall die. If wasn’t he wouldn’t be Holy, but He is Holy and that’s why SIN cannot enter into heaven.
The spirit is always at war with the flesh this in itself is the unseen, un discussed war that rages. It’s unseen because the Devil has disguised it covered it up as being just hormones. However if you’re not washed in the Blood of the Lamb, than who do you think is controlling your hormones.
King David’s adultrey with Bathsheeba has become a well known Bible story that every should know. The story itself became a well known song. Many think it’s just a song, but other may hear it and listen to warning. That if the Devil can put an Isreali King in bondange because of lust than what do you think he can do with you? That’s why having the blood of Jesus applied to your heart, mind and body is so important to stay pure. Stay on the highway that leads to holiness.
I have one final question tonight. It’s a two part question.
Are you washed in the blood of the lamb and living free from ALL SIN?
