It’s very hard for me to write something like this… Even though I’m a journalist by trade, I can openly admit that some stories are harder to write than others. On the surface journalists by nature as supposed to have thick skin. If my readers would excuse for a breif moment in time while I remove my shell to talk about Joey + Rory Feek.
Six months ago, I told by my church leaders that music is a strong part of the joy that God has for his true followers.
With that mind I searched the scriptures to find exactly what God’s music intails.
I have been following the Joey/Rory story for the past few moments. I have to be honest. Rory is full of courage… He is full of courage because he puts so much emotion in his blog which is the skill of any great storyteller or writer.
Ephesians 5:19King James Version (KJV)
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; From a personal perspective it was the spiritual songs that both Joey + Rory sang together that elevated my faith.
I love to sing… When no one’s watching, or listening…
I’ve heard I’ve listened and I have watched Rory write post after post about the journey he is on with his Joey. Some of more notable spiritual song that have grabbed my attention are songs such Turning to the Light.
Here is the tribute that I have come up with for the dynamic duo. Listening to the song Turning to the Light is a pure delight because it puts the devil to flight. The song Are you washed in the Blood just let’s the listeners know the price of His love especially from the father above. The song A belt and the Bible is needed for all to hear and fear. Why because the belt is how my parents dealt. Thanks for the musical revival. The Bible these days is my means of survival. Many thanks.
Rory, I think the song Hammerin’ Nails is Good, but don’t forget the cross that was made of wood. The true foundation which can only be found in Jesus will set free those in jail and all it took was a wooden cross and some nails. Good work my fellow Christian brother….
Please know that your blog titled ThisLifeILive has many and that wasn’t due to the luck of a special penny. Don’t build on the sand, I enjoy hearing songs from your band….
1 Corinthians 3:11King James Version (KJV)
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus…. It’s uncertain how many Joey has left while boxing with her Cancer. I have a special message for each of you. First Joey:
I have a list of three things for you to always remember.
Your work was not done in vain.
You have good news fom the graveyard as spoken by the band Southern Raised
The grave has no victory. Death has no sting….
Give no place to the devil
1 Thes 4-13-15.
Remain strong in the faith.
Thank you for the music. I now know the power of a plus sign.
