Tonight’s blog post was unplanned. It was a spur of the moment type thing, due to the fact that I think I must explain a concept to a large group of people. The concept I like to call banking with heaven. In the Bible, the Lord calls this method tithing… Now for those of you who don’t understand what tithing is. In layman’s terms. Tithing is giving a small portion of your income to God 10% to be exact…
“And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD.”
King James Version (KJV)
Again I state that tithing is giving money to God. The reason I say this twice is that I want the ordinary man and woman to understand. Recently I have come under fire for going to church in the U.S. Furthermore I have also come under fire for tithing and rather than yell, kick or scream at people, I see this as a time to allow people to understand why I bank with heaven’s bank.
I could tell my many adoring enemies why I tithe until I am blue in the face but that will not matter. The reason it will not matter is because I don’t have time to debate this issue with people. Another reason it won’t matter in simply because these same people that hound me constantly about when I’m going to be giving my next few millions to the church are irrelevant. They don’t have the understanding or the reasoning behind tithing.
Before I proceed any further, I must have my readers understand something. I am on social assistance because I have a disability. This is the reason the majority of people are concerned for my financial well being. Although their concerns are understandable. Their argument doesn’t hold water. I see the method of tithing as just paying another bill and doing it with gratitude. I am not a man of fine taste. I am not a man who is into his own image. What I genuinely care about are people, not finacial portfolios

Today, I had to make a wise decision to change my bank. The reason I had to change my bank account today is because certain family members will go into my banking info online and proceed to scold me about not giving money to the Church.
Malachi 3:10King James Version (KJV)
10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
I have also spent some time putting together my resume and cover letters out to certain writing companies. I am confident in my abilities and I am confident I will also get a job.
As I sit here writing this post. I am reminded of the woman who gave and also the birds of the air. What do I mean? I am referring to two separate but very important teachings of Jesus.
Matthew 6:25-33King James Version (KJV)
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.
I am also reminded of a parable Jesus taught about a woman giving all that she had to the service of the Lord.
Mark 12:41-44King James Version (KJV)
41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
It is so essential to me that I humbly and happily put the Lord first in everything because I am simply grateful for the blessings he gives me.
Until next time,
“I pray that God guides your hearts, your thoughts and your steps.”
